The Fr3sh Show is set to entertain us once more with one of their awesome Open Mic Nights

The Fr3sh show is set to take place once again on Saturday, October 26 at The Solo Bar, Camden.

This will be a night of live music, poetry and comedy, so you should certainly have a great fun packed evening of entertainment courtesy of the following acts.

Ruth has a powerful voice as showcased in her original songs - Set my heart aflame and True colours.

Ruth-Ellen is a 20 year old singer/songwriter originally from South London but is now continuing her musical odyssey in Southampton. Her musical genres of choice include Soul, Pop, Jazz and Contemporary music both old and new, her music is also inspired by her gospel roots. As a child she grew up listening to classic soul and gospel choirs accompanied by sweet harmonies and melodies.

Ruth is currently writing material for her debut EP which she hopes to release in the Summer of 2014. Coupled with acoustic guitarist Joe Cornell, the two musicians are a talented double act, who are capable of delivering a strong angelic sound.

Presenting you with Shantel's latest album Anarchy and Romance

Shantel's latest album Anarchy and Romance features 14 tracks and is due for digital release on October 21 with a physical release on November 4.

His vocals are lively and upbeat plus the instrumentals have a Greco-Turkic vibe to them and on some tracks Shantel’s music sounds Ska like.

13^th Shake is my favourite song due mainly to the fast paced rhythm; also the song’s brass segment deserves a mention. Paranoia Bunk and Your Nose is Punk are also worth highlighting because of their fast tempo which is guaranteed to get your head nodding.

With the exception of the ethnic instrumental style The Masterplan and Multiple Assimilation wouldn’t be out of place on an album by The Kaiser Chiefs. Emma Greenfield’s soothing vocals and lyrical skills are perfect for Lenny Soda.

Slow down is easily comparable to the Rock and Roll hit Great Balls of Fire. Nice use of the harmonica at the end of the Kiez is alright, great guitar riffs on Golden which fit seamlessly with Cherilyn Macneil’s delightful voice. The closing track Super Bad Day has a bit of a sombre feel in places.

Shantel is talented enough to lend his hand to a variety of musical genres and accompanied by talented singer/songwriters ensure Anarchy and Romance is a thoroughly enjoyable album to listen to.

Shantel and the Bucovina Club Orkestar are set to tour Europe starting in Germany on November 13 and concluding in Austria on December 18, during which they will perform at the Electric Brixton on December 12.

Introducing Indie Rockers Sykes

I had the pleasure of seeing Sykes perform as one of two support acts at The Garage in Islington, despite the headline act pulling out at the final hour both Sykes and Natalie Holmes ensured the event still went ahead.

Although Sykes are a four piece indie pop band from South West London, on the night only three of them performed.

They were formed in 2007 by Julie and Kristian, after several line up changes they finally found the perfect team with Will on drums and Dre on the Keyboard.

Each member of the band brings their own musical tastes and this influences the sound they produce when they perform together. By having a female vocalist into a usually male dominated genre, they hope to blend infectious pop melodies with upbeat guitar music.

They have headlined at numerous notable venues in London and have supported the likes of The Wombats and more recently they have been recording their EP with up and coming producer Cam Blackwood.

Sykes latest EP showcases Julia's strong vocals as well as awesome instrumental melodies from the rest of the band. The three tracks that are features are lively numbers, which are all equally enjoyable tunes.

Presenting talented Singer/Songwriter Kristyna Myles

Having spotted her in the background of Ben Williams Balloon String video, I thought it was former Hollyoaks actress Bianca Hendrickse-Spendlove but after seeing the credits I realised I was mistaken and then I realised she is also a singer/songwriter so I had to have a listen and I'm glad I did.

Kristyna's soft vocals are like rays of sunshine and the instruments simply enhance the character of this wonderful song.

This talented singer/songwriter began her musical career by busking on the streets, such as greats like James Morrison, KT Tunstall and Bob Dylan did before her.

She her busking days, she has performed on BBC TV and Radio and has also had the honour of recording at the acclaimed Abbey Road Studios. Kristyna has also toured across Europe, received a Mobo nomination whilst she was part of acclaimed Gospel act DTWG and also supported the likes of Will Young, M People and The Wanted.

Her debut album is due for release later this year, production credits go to Grammy Award winner Ken Nelson (who previously worked alongside Coldplay and Paolo Nutini).
