Fifi Rong entertains once again with her sensual voice and unique brand of electro pop

Beijing-born and London-based artist and producer Fifi Rong returns with another dose of her sometimes dark and sultry, sometimes light and beautiful, always unique and eccentric brand of deliciously addictive songwriting in the form of her new EP, ‘Violently Silently’, set to drop on 4th December.

Fifi uses the title, ‘Violently Silently’, to describe her genre-bending sound, which she explains is “subtly vulnerable and introverted, yet extremely emotionally powerful and brutal”.

The release is Fifi’s most deliberate expression yet of her trademark hybrid sound, taking the listener on a journey into her remarkable soundworld.

The EP forms a cohesive body of work, showcasing her artistic prowess and the depth of thought which goes into her composition, with each song relating to the others. In her own words, “the same set of sound elements were sampled, crafted and re-sampled to demonstrate a set of songs that people would conventionally consider to cross several genres”.

The first track, ‘Intro’, is a premix of the second, ‘Once’, which includes a sampled preview of both ‘Slow Poison’ and ‘Since When’ (tracks 3 and 4). The EP is then rounded off by ‘Outro’, which itself is a remix of the penultimate track.

Over the last couple of years, Fifi has flourished as a songwriter and a producer, collaborating with Phaeleh, Skepta, Tricky and Boris Blank/Yello, as well as film maker Paris Seawell, culminating in writing, recording, and producing the ‘Violently Silently’ EP herself, before being mixed by Lee Slater, who has previously worked with the likes of Roots Manuva, Roll Deep and M.I.A.

Having already established herself internationally as a stand-out live performer, with headline shows throughout the UK, Europe, and China/Hong Kong, Fifi has been going from strength to strength, picking up radio support from BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 1 Xtra and BBC 6Music.

The EP represents the continued refinement of Fifi’s distinctive style, which has been praised by the likes of Fortitude, Clash, Fader and The 405, and was described by Through The Wire as ‘jaw dropping downtempo electronic music’.

Her live prowess will be showcased with a special EP launch at The Garage in Highbury on 24th November, promising an electric evening that will aptly display the pure emotional intimacy, mesmerizing vocals and nuanced flair of her Chinese heritage that fans have come to expect.

‘Violently Silently’ is a release which both delivers and challenges, going one step further in refining Fifi’s distinctive sonic vision and creative palette, and transporting listeners into her very own universe.

Promises is a upbeat number with beautiful vocals, catchy pop beats and heartfelt lyrics

Nina is a 18 year old vocalist from Newport, South Wales and this talented individual juggles her singing with her A-Levels and in the 6 months since she started pursuing her musical dreams she has made impressive progress.

Nina's interested in singing began at the age of 10 where she received singing lessons from Charlotte Church's singing teacher Louise Ryan and this led to her getting hand picked to appear in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Wales Millennium Centre alongside household names such as H from Steps and Aled Jones.

Her other musical accomplishments including reaching the final of 'The UK Open Mic' contest a few years back and claiming the Runner Up spot in 'The Star Of Stage' contest 2013, where she got to meet Connie Fisher.

This talented artist's debut single Never Let You Go (written by award winning songwriters Darren Parry and Dan and Laura Curtis) was well received and this propelled Nina to put her on spin on Prince's classic song Purple Rain, this was well received both on Youtube and also on the Radio.

Purple Rain was immediately proceeded with the release of Never Let You Go, which was remixed by EDM specialist producer do Adventurer - these guys have already worked with the likes of Pendulum and Pixie Lott, so for them to work their magic on Nina's song was inspirational.

Nina next plans to release Promises, which once again has been written and produced by Darren Parry.

Promises is a upbeat number with beautiful vocals, catchy pop beats and heartfelt lyrics, Nina's vocals are truly out of this world.

Tall People Have No Feelings treats us to energetic rock beats and captivating instrumental hooks

The Vanilla Milkshakes are a Punk / Rock band from Denver, Colorado.

They recently finished recording their follow up album Tall People Have No Feelings with the assistance of Calvin Johnson (of K Records and Beat Happening).

The album was mixed by Calvin's assistant engineer Pual Krogh (of Oh Blue Minium) and mastered by Jack Endino (of Nirvana's Bleach).

Despite the title and tone of the lyrics Amazing Misery has a catchy vibe to it.

The Block song delivers quirky lyrics and upbeat instrumentals.

Deez Boots entertains us with captivating instrumental hooks.

Good Intentions Will Kill Us serves up tempo percussion whilst waxing lyrical about current affairs.

If You Think About It is chock full of energetic rock beats which slightly overshadow the vocals.

Kitty Likes Coffee is a quirky number thanks to its lyrics, which are delivered at the speed of light.

Popular goes in hard with the instrumentals but the vocal levels don't cater for this.

Sara Tea is full to the brim with heavy bass and percussion beats plus we're treated to catchy lyrics.

Sorry Desi has a rock and roll flavour to it, with its fast paced instrumental arrangement.

The Pessismist starts off cheerful but the mood instantly shifts into something that's dark and depressing.

We Sound Shitty So Spin Will Like Us is a okayish tune, its lyrics seem to be of a parodying nature.

Yr Scene treats us to catchy instrumentals especially in terms of percussion.

You're The Starbucks Of People concludes the album with The Vanilla Milkshakes trademark Rock And Roll arrangement.
