Forbidden Desire sees Fifi Rong entertain us with more of a poppy vibe

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBCYdRdphWM&feature=youtu.be

London-based artist and producer Fifi Rong returns with her new ‘Forbidden Desire’ EP.

Forbidden Desire treats us to her trade mark sensual vocals but this time we are entertained with more of a poppy vibe courtesy of the opening track.

Holy is the perfect blend of a beautiful piano melody and electronic beats.

You Hurt Me has a pleasant and natural sound to it thanks to what sounds like running water whilst also delivering bass heavy beats.

The Turnipbeet remix of Forbidden Desire rounds off the EP with the addition of heavy drum beats throughout, which add extra depth to an already out standing song.

Fifi has performed international headline shows throughout the UK, Europe, and China/Hong Kong; and worked with diverse artists such as Skepta and Tricky – providing the vocals for Skepta’s upcoming album title track.

Fifi’s extravagant talent has attracted renowned contemporaries before, including Lee Slater who’s worked with the likes of Roots Manuva and M.I.A. The title track of ‘Forbidden Desire’ was mixed by Emmy Award nominated New York engineer Robert L. Smith who’s worked with artists from Lady GaGa to the late David Bowie.

Fifi Rong’s latest work is a further expression of her genre-bending hybrid-electronica sound, in her own words a “snap shot of my latest development”. The EP represents the continued refinement of Fifi’s distinctive style, described as ‘jaw dropping downtempo electronic music’, and showcases a transitional period towards her forthcoming album.

Fifi produces her music in isolation from start to finish, away from the influences of the outside world – In her own words “It's a very individual and intimate language that I speak, with unfiltered and naked feelings of my own, for those who want to join me and listen to something real.”

Unda Maris delivers a slow melody whilst also bringing a haunting feel into the mix

Wacky Southern Current started as a home recording project for Marco Cervellin, who is the mastermind behind everything but is sometimes supported by fellow musician Gianni Garbo.

Unda Maris delivers a melody with a slow tempo whilst also bringing a haunting feel into the mix.

We had Many Fights Along the Way has more of a upbeat and pop influenced nature to it, the closing and haunting guitar riffs and piano arrangement gets a big thumbs up from me.

Not Afraid (of Spiders) is a mostly delightful melody with the occasional somber beat.

Turn up for the Rush has a gritty feel to it.

End of the Hansa is an orchestric masterpiece combined with heavy beats.

Jazz Scene has more of a cheerful flavour to it whilst still managing to sounds somewhat dark and haunting.

Learning to Dance is a funkier number and the sound of the bongoes are a nice touch to a well crafted instrumental arrangement.

Girl with a Future concludes the most recent release by Italian artist Marco Cervellin's WSC project by entertaining us with a catchy pop arrangement.
