Presenting Cleo

Borderline and Teardrop are both available here - https://soundcloud.com/cleosol

Here's the video for Borderline

Cleo tempts us with not one but two complimentary musical delights Borderline and Teardrop, both of these are exquisitely produced mashups in which she easily showcases her powerful vocals as well as her unique style and sound.

‘Borderline’ is the start of a new musical direction for Cleo and is a clever twist on Kendrick Lamar’s, ‘The Recipe’, The Fugees’, ‘Ready Or Not’ and Aaliyah’s, ‘More Than a Woman’.

‘Teardrop’ is a beautiful mash-up of The Verve’s ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’, Massive Attack’s ‘Teardrop’ and Cleo’s lyrics in the opening verse.

Paving the way for a new era of retro-futuristic soul-pop, the track showcases Cleo’s diversity as an artist. She has a style and sound that is truly her own, which along with her powerhouse vocals, make her stand out from the crowd. ‘Teardrop’ is the second new track that Cleo has released for fans to download free.

Here's a biography from the lovely lady herself.

Much like her name suggests, when the sun comes out to play, so does Cleo Sol. Often spotted riding her bike through the back streets of Ladbroke Grove, the basket laden with ingredients for her latest culinary outing, this 21-year old
singer-songwriter draws her greatest inspiration from these here roads. A self
professed technophobe, with as much bounce in her trademark curls as there
is coming out of her studio sessions; things are looking up on the Westside.

“I’d like to think I’m encompassing the best of all genres, contemporary with a live, organic feel. What I’ve got is the ability to make sad songs happy, make things feel quite up….”

Owing her outlook on life to a somewhat bohemian upbringing; born to a Spanish-Serbian mother, a singer (who sung on William Orbit’s album) who inspired Cleo’s love for cycling, swimming and the great outdoors and a Jamaican father (responsible for her seven brothers and sisters) who played double bass. Jazz is the thread that sews it all together. Also a keen lover of art (“I’m best at portraits”), it was music that Cleo felt drawn to the most.

A course at a local youth club and the chance to spend time in a professional recording studio when she was 13 encouraged her to delve into the world of song writing, sowed the seed of what was to come. When in turn her college years arrived, Cleo spent three years studying various performing art disciplines alongside the history of music and performance and music itself.

It was after meeting UK based songwriter and producer DaVinChe (Kano, Tinie Tempah, Tinchy Stryder), via trusty MySpace, that Cleo found herself appearing on her first solo cuts ‘Riding For Love’ with Bashy, ‘Hero’, one of Tinie Tempah’s early outings, ‘Tears’, and experimenting further with different sounds via some big house moments by producer Perempay. It was then that Cleo made the executive decision to spend time playing with different sounds until she unearthed the artist she knew she would become. Testing the waters in 2011, ‘Lovebass’, ‘Call For Me’ and ‘High’ featuring Gappy Ranks received support from BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Kiss, Choice, Rinse and beyond, ultimately resulting in a recording contract with Island Records.

No longer juggling part-time jobs, which have included stints at a shoe shop, a salon in Knightsbridge, cleaning an English school in Chiswick and her favourite, working in a chemist, she’ll be melting the hearts of those at Lovebox, T In The Park, Wireless and Lawnfest this summer. Having already wowed crowds earlier this year on the MOBO national tour, the time Cleo’s taken time to master her craft shows.

“I don’t really listen to particular artists – I prefer a good album or sound, whether that’s Latin, Motown, jazz, reggae or pop. Pink’s first album, JT’s ‘Justified’ or ‘The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill’ – I listen to these all the time.” The likes of Tracy Chapman, Jhené Aiko, Destiny’s Child, Alicia Keys, Astrud Gilberto also get the nod.

Having spent the best part of the last year in the studio, the first track unveiled was ‘Never The Right Time (Who Do You Love)’, championed by Trevor Nelson, Fearne Cotton and Ronnie Herel for starters, it’s another example of how Cleo and DaVinChe fuse perfectly on a song. Summer season saw Cleo team up with Ninja Tune and Radio 1 DJ Toddla T & UK Grime MC Scrufizzer for the Carnival inspired ‘Code To Crack’.

Cleo is now currently in the studio adding the finishing touches to her brand material ready to be released spring / summer.

Presenting Midé

Midé is a talented musician with a soulful voice, which is a delight to listen to. The Mainstream track of his latest EP is such a feel good tune.

Midé is a London-based, twenty-something year old, singer/songwriter. “I worked hard writing songs and composing music long before it hit me that this is who I am”. Midé has been mesmerizing audiences with his third arm (Guitar) and soulful voice before and since the launch of his debut EP: “Travellin’ Light”. The videos for both the title track and the bonus track have gone down as a favourite for many and as a step in the right direction for the Acoustic-Soul man.

“I’ve always had a creative streak and in my early teens it came out in the form of art. I was always drawing up comic (well comical) superheroes and cartoons. Somehow, through college, it grew into a liking for arts and music and literature. I began rapping (just shy of mediocre) and I did – well I thought I was a rapper for a couple of years.

As I got older, the streak seemed to mature from petty ill-composed lyrics into structured rhyme and meanings took form and before long, Poesy was replacing rap. Its awkward watching the whole process in yourself, like trying to watch the summer breeze – you know its there and you feel it moving but you don’t see it happening.”

Midé calls it Acoustic Soul and there is no denying the soul in the delightful songs and melodies he delivers. Ever since listening to “Continuum” and “Room For Squares” by John Mayer, a big influence in Midé’s sound, he has developed so much as a songwriter; you only need to hear “Change is a ‘comin” from his upcoming record to understand.

Midé also cites Israel Houghton, Eric Clapton, Jonathan Butler and a host of other greats (united by their expressiveness, soul and their guitars) as his inspiration.

Introducing the soothing vocals of musician extraordinaire Natalie Holmes

Child - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFsWsvPFc9Q

iTunes Link - https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/child-ep/id684979330

Listening to Natalie Holmes latest EP Child is such a wondrous delight and she continues to develop her musical talent as each day progresses, this talented musician continues to go from strength to strength.

Natalie's soothing vocals are showcased in the melodic masterpiece that is Child, so much so that I can't choose a favourite track as they're all so so good.

Biography

Bristol’s 20-year-old singer-songwriter Natalie Holmes has grown her fan base from square one over the past 3 years, now with over a million hits on YouTube, around 14,000 subscribers, well over 3,000 Facebook likes and two successful EP’s on iTunes.

On releasing her debut studio EP ‘The Simplest Things’, it reached number 5 in the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart and 127 in the main iTunes album chart on it’s first day of release!

Her second EP ‘Child’ is due for release on August 18th but has already started soaring through the charts on pre-orders alone – This young musician’s hard work has finally led to something huge.

Since moving to Leeds in 2011 to study at Leeds College of Music, Natalie has been gigging wherever and whenever she can, taking her Internet following and expanding it in the real world. Key moments for her were supporting Kate McGill on her headline tour at The Cockpit in Leeds, planning and carrying out her own tour in September, closely followed by supporting Lewis Watson on his entire sold out UK headline tour in October.

She’s also been busy attracting the attention of the likes of Perez Hilton, who in featuring her original song ‘Safety Net’ on his blog, said, “She’s a real artist!”, and BBC Introducing West Yorkshire’s Alan Raw, who played a track from her self produced album ‘Goodmorning Sleepyhead’ on his show.

So far, Natalie has been doing everything on her own, which has worked out fine for her so far, but now she needs more. Described as “one of the most consistently astounding songwriters the music world has seen in ages”, Natalie is very excited to let her new release of ‘Child’ EP simmer and hopefully boil into something great.

Having self-admittedly ‘grown up’ a lot since the last EP, listeners have said she’s come back with an edge of maturity this time, and it’s really transformed her music into something new and unexpected.

Influenced by artists such as Ellie Goulding, Ingrid Michaelson, Bon Iver and Gabrielle Aplin, Natalie started writing songs from a young age; first on piano, (which she’s been playing since before she can remember) and then guitar, which she picked up and taught herself.

Years later, she’s fully fledged and out of the nest, just trying to find the best places to fly. To date, Natalie describes a new wave of motivation that’s hit her: “I’ve always been musical, and I’ve always known it was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, so now I am doing everything I physically can to make this happen.”

Presenting the soothing vocals of Zubi d'Nova

Take You Home - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMuWj3XzX9I

Take You Home further showcases Zubi's trademark vocals and heartfelt lyrics as previously established in her previous masterpieces such as I'm not your type http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XV6Ylj-Kb1k and Fly Away

Here is Zubi d'Nova's official biography from her website.

Zubi d'Nova is a lyrics-focused singer-songwriter who aims to pull on heartstrings and memories with her mature mellow-sounding voice. Her music has been described as a mix of soothing vocals with pop, underlined with her love of neo-soul and RnB. She is not new to experimenting, however, and is hoping to mix her style with a little bit of jazz, soft rock, dubstep, and country in the future.

After realising at the age of 14 that there was a market for her voice, she went from being the youngest beauty queen in Kenya (aged 15!) to appearing in the media in all forms for the next 2 years under her previous stage name, Mellow Dee.

At that time, the popular form of music in Kenya was "kapuka", a style of music similar to ragga. It was the only style, at the time, that got any airplay. Although she had received moderate airplay with her many collaborations and solo songs, Zubi was advised plenty of times by people in the industry to change her music as it wasn't "hit material".

She refused to change her style, which she had been developing since she started writing lyrics at the tender age of 7, as she didn't want to simply "sell out" just to gain mass popularity.

This rebelliousness is still evident in her music today, but it might just have been worth it - she won an honorable mention and made it to the finals in the prestigious International Songwriting Competition in 2009. There were over 15,000 entries, and some of her fellow finalists are established songwriters with their music playing on popular TV shows such as Dawson's Creek!

The competition is judged by the biggest people in the international industry, such as Youssou N'Dour, Timbaland, Rihanna, etc. This great step was the catalyst to her decision to finally, after 5 years of silence due to unforeseen hardship, make a comeback as Zubi d'Nova - the woman who could not be held back.

Zubi's style of songwriting is one based solely on intuition. Although she has the stage experience from earlier years, she has never had formal vocal training (save for 3 classes with Kavutha Asiyo in Nairobi, and a workshop and 5 classes with Mary Setrakian in NYC) and still calls herself a bathroom singer.

Her writing and vocal performances are steered by a keen determination to grow and learn, as well as following "what feels right".

She is currently working on an acoustic vs dubstep project with various producers around the world. Her newer music will portray a darker, deeper, and more brutally honest side to her personality, with cryptic lyrics and raw emotion. A lot of these songs can be found on her Youtube, where she often films herself singing newly written songs as a sneak preview.

EXPERIENCE

Started writing songs between the age of 7 and 9.

Curtain raised for Fatman Scoop, Jazzy B, and Chameleon, as well as performed at Dettol Heart Run, various Asian pageants and other events, and other concerts in Nairobi from 2004-2007. Also performed in 2011 off Broadway in NYC during a workshop with Mary Setrakian (has worked with Mary J Blige and works regularly with the acting studio run by Susan Batson; Nicole Kidman's coach).

Introducing The Last Scout

Scar Love - https://soundcloud.com/thelastscout/scar-love

Scar Love is a upbeat, feel good and moving song that most parents should be able to relate to and according to description on the Sound Cloud.

Scar Love was written about the birth and early years of my son Zephyrs life. He was born very quickly and my wife had to have a emergency operation straight after delivering him which is how the song title came about. The chorus refers to the amazing feeling any new father gets when his child calls him daddy for the first time.

They describe themselves as fusing cutting edge acoustic music and songwriting alongside contemporary art and photography, their influences range from pop to folk to melodic rock.
Ethereal layered vocal harmonies create the band's signature sound.

Introducing the extremely talented Bakery Boys

Prologue #002 'Light Work ' www.youtube.com/watch?v=1q9eoRHpE8Q

The idea to sample Tom Jones was unparalleled, it gave their latest rap the feel of a Old School James Bond movie theme.

Bakery Boys are a Hip Hop trio from South London - members of the collective are Dirty Dre, Shack Baker & Ace Boogie.

After a solid debut year of sold out performances and showcases, being featured in Channel 4's Hollyoaks, nominated for MTV's best unsigned for 2013 not to mention their stand out set at Wireless Festival 2012, Bakery Boys are set to continue to fast track through the ranks of New UK Talent.

Fusing melodic urban pop with fresh UK hip-hop, that draws its inspiration from pioneers such as Jay-Z, Tupac, Soul II Soul & Jamiroquai as equally as it does to contemporaries such as Kanye West, ASAP Rocky, Frank Ocean & Drake; Bakery Boys represent a credible Urban Pop Collective that stands out from the crowd.

Their conceptual ideas and fresh approach differentiate the collective from the rest of the music industry, while their constant involvement in a variety of fashion and art projects leaves vast space for new developments and exciting ideas.

Presenting JproD (Parental Advisory)

Parental Advisory - https://soundcloud.com/jprod-2/jprod-trill-shit-i-really-mean

Trill Shit, I really mean that is one of the tracks from JProd's forthcoming Regal Project.

JProd is a lyrical poet and his tracks are well crafted tunes which will appeal to fans of the rap genre due to catchy melodies.

To get a clearer idea of exactly who JprodD here is a biography that he was kind enough to e-mail over.

"If I could define my music in one word, that word would be real. Trill sh**.

I make music for people who live like me to relate to and paint a picture for those who don't live like me.

Everything I write in my music is based on real life influences. Mostly everything that I saw, I have seen happen or has happened to me.

I like to categorize my music as "Lifestyle music". I do not like to limit myself and say "Lifestyle Rap" because I feel I am much more than just a rapper. I feel I am a music artist. I am influenced through all types of music

If you were to ever see me around the way, you would see my actions and my lingo really do reflect exactly what I am giving you in my music.

Over the course of my life I have realized that life is way to short to not do what you want to do. You should always do what feels right to you, even if people don't agree or necessarily like it.

You have to be you.

It is all about asking yourself , "Could I die tomorrow and be happy with what I did Today?"

I feel my music has extreme crossover mainstream potential. I try to write lyrics that are really relatable to anybody in any situation. I try to capture my feelings at that exact moment. At one time or another, everyone has felt sad, scared, turnt up, angry, forgiving, careless, etc.

The music I write literally comes from my soul. You can't fake the realness that I put into my songs. It wouldn't feel so genuine.

I like to think I am rare, at least as a hip hop artist. I feel like everyone tries so hard to fit the "Hip Hop" image. That is something I have never done. It is just who I am. I dress the way I dress because it is how I like to dress. It is not because I saw the same outfit in a music video. I talk the way I talk because that is how I express myself. My music is just me documenting how I live.

Almost like my biography up to this point in my life.

I believe I have similar traits to not only music greats but also of business greats. I fully understand the business side of music but I am not willing to compromise my art. Money, girls, being thought to be cool, none are my motivations. Granted, it comes with the territory, which is cool but that isn't why I dedicate my life to my music.

My goal is to transcend rap. To make it every race or culture's favorite music.
One thing that I think separates me from a lot of artists doing it is my ability to adapt. Throughout my life I have been around every culture, I have had conversations with every type of person.

The fact that I have favorite rap artists from the west coast, east coast, dirty south, Midwest, really gives me a leg up. It enables me to know how to convey my message to each person from each region.

I pride myself on being original and going against the grain. I embrace how different I am and how different I think. Being different is a small price to pay for being a genius. Einstein never gave a f*** about what anyone had to say about him.

As far as making moves to brand my movement or break songs, I do it the way I want to do it. I don't care what people tell me I should be doing. I don't believe in paying people a ridiculous amount of money for promo. You do not have to worry about that if you make real trill music.

People will gravitate towards it. I am not looking to be a one hit wonder or pop off for one summer. I want to be the topic of conversation 10 years down the road. I do not want to be the biggest rapper, I want to be the biggest artist.

I try to be the voice for those who may feel up against odds or feel like a black sheep. I put things in perspective for them. I either put a humorous twist on a bad situation or I dive deep into the feeling and show the silver lining.

I think older folks have a really bad misconception of my generation. I tell about the life of the younger generation and yeah I talk about smoking, drinking, having sex, dressing nice, BUT I talk about uplifting and being educated and chasing your dream. I am not trying to promote any of that. I am just simply telling you what I do. If you happen to do the same, awesome. #TrifeLife.

I think it is cool to go to college, be sober, not be promiscuous. My life is just a little different. But not for one second do I want someone to think that I can't talk your ear off about politics or the economy. I am well-rounded. Ya Dig.

Just because you turn up, act reckless, get it poppin', that doesn't mean you cant take care of your business. Just because you are going the F*** in at the club, bar, party, that don't mean you can't be the most well spoken, well mannered n*gga the next morning at work, or at a job interview, or in class. Actions do not define someone. Keep it Trill, Take care of your business. If not, get your sh** together.

My night could consist of drinking, women, a crazy amount of weed, loud Music, Studio, blowing money, and you can bet your last dollar that I will be 30 minutes early to work in the morning. That is that #TrifeLife.

I am sensitive to the fact that everyone has gone through rough times. I feel that if I show how I overcame what I went through, I can inspire someone else.

The way I found my sound was crazy. My life hit rock bottom and I didn't see much hope. I didn't have anything other than my n*ggas and some sh** to say. I really submerged myself into a new atmosphere. Before I never drank, never smoked, never made the music I wanted to make.

Until one day, I was like "f*ck that", I want to drink and get sauced every once and a while, I like to get high, I am going to start saying real sh** in my music. Since that day, I have been JproD.
Music is what I was born to do without a question.

I want to be a role model, in the sense that I want people to feel they can achieve their dream.  I want people to be comfortable with who they are and not be afraid to be different. Different is trill. Trill is real. Real is respected.

Trill Shit, I really mean that. Yetati."
