LA Based The Active Set serve up lively vocals, smooth guitar riffs and powerful beats


LA Based band The Active Set recently released their new EP Lights, this is the first major release since their 2011 album 11 - which led to them supporting Awol Nation on tour.

The Active Set sprung to life thanks to the late 70s/early 80s post punk and new wave, as well as influences from both the 90s and 00s.

The band's line up consists of Matthew Stolarz on Vocals/Guitar, Francis Ramsden on Guitar/Keyboard, Gabriel Grinta on Drums and Alen Racedo on Bass.

The four piece draw their inspiration from among others the likes of Bloc Party, Pulp, The Strokes, Sigur Ros and The Clash.

The Band's lineup consists of Matthew Stolarz on Vocals/Guitar, Francis Ramsden on Guitar/Keyboard, Gabriel Grinta on Drums and Alen Racedo on Bass.

I Can't Trust You starts with powerful synthesized beats and an energetic percussion arrangement , the song also showcases lively vocals and smooth guitar riffs.

Actual Factual opens with lightning fast beats, a captivating instrumental arrangement and a first class vocal performance and well crafted lyrics.

Ledger's In The Red begins with a delightful and eclectic mixture of beats before The Active Set dazzle us with another brilliantly produced melody.

Shut 'Em Down is a laid back melody with a slower tempo and the guys deliver a smooth performance on all fronts.

Watch Yr Back commences with killer instrumental hooks, gentle vocals which then get cranked up to entertain us with a rock flavoured tune.

Night Lights Our Eyes starts with a delightful intro which sets the tone for the rest of the track, which treats us to both chilled vocals and smooth beats as well as a catchy instrumental arrangement especially the brass sequence.
