Introducing the smooth vocals of Aylin Eser

Australian based Singer Aylin Eser and award winning producer Will Larsen write music in a similar vein to the melodic stylings of Katie Melua and Norah Jones plus their songs feature piano pop as one would expect from Burt Bacharach.

This is reflected in their Arrows of Desire EP, which was released last November and is available to purchase from iTunes - https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/id633645297?affId=1736887

Dancing Shoes is a nice upbeat and positive song with some cool instrumental arrangement. The vocal parts of Arrows of Desire are slightly overshadowed by the instrumental tracks. Dolls and Trolls is another upbeat song and its instrumental arrangement is slightly similar to Laura by The Scissor Sisters. The lyrics of One More Chance are more emotional than the other songs in the EP. With the exception of Arrows Of Desire, this is a great EP.

Aylin was kind enough to take time out of her busy schedule to provide us with an interview.

How did you get into music in the first place?
I’ve been into music ever since I can remember. I was singing even before I could talk according to my mum, but I was led to believe that becoming a singer was just a dream, so I studied more “realistic” fields like business and interior design.

I met Will Larsen, the half of the band, at a firm where I was working as an interior designer. He was already a well established and quite well known, professional musician and film composer here in Melbourne. He’s even won awards for his work.

When he found out I loved to sing, he immediately asked what I was doing wasting my time in an office job!! He really encouraged me to chase my dream of becoming a singer. So I did. We’ve been working together, writing songs and performing ever since.

Who were your musical influences, Western and/or Turkish?
I love Eva Cassidy, Etta James, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Norah Jones and Sertab Erener.

What tunes are currently on repeat on your Mp3 Player?
“Rejuvenation” by The Meters is always there for a great pick-me-up. It’s so funky that you can’t help but smile!! And I’ve just bought Anoushka Shankar’s new album “Traces of You,” which I’m loving. It’s just so gorgeous and beautiful. That girl is seriously talented!!

What’s your life outside of music?
I enjoy playing sports such as tennis, going for nature walks, reading, spending time with family and friends, cooking and trying new food, traveling and sightseeing.

If you could collaborate with any singer English or Turkish who would it be?
I would love to do something with Imani because she has one of the most stunning voices I think have ever heard. I love her music and lyrics as well.

What’s your favourite genre of music?
That’s a very difficult question for me because I don't think I have just one favourite genre. I enjoy many genres: indie, pop, classical, Turkish classical and folk.

What’s next for you musically and are there plans for a UK Tour?
Will and I are planning to release an album in mid 2014 as well as begin touring in the second half of 2014. And yes, a UK tour is definitely on the cards!

What are your strengths and weaknesses?
My strengths include a generally positive outlook on life and a friendly disposition. My
weaknesses can include indecisiveness and a tendency to be stubborn at times.

Where do you draw inspiration for your song lyrics?
Anything and everything. Inspiration exists everywhere, you just need to be aware and see it. It could be in something you read, eat, smell, wear, an act that someone displays, a feeling or a thought that randomly appears and so much more..

What is your guilty pleasure?
Hmmm one word.. Cheesecake :)
